Cape Town City v Stellenbosch FC

The first Cape derby of the Absa Premiership season will take place this weekend when Cape Town City host Stellenbosch FC at the Athlone Stadium on Saturday.

City, of course, will be strong favourites as they welcome the newly promoted team into the big time and will want to show who is the big dog of Cape football.

The Citizens will also be looking for their first victory of the season after they played to a 2-2 draw against Baroka away from home last week.

Keanu Cupido and Kermit Erasmus scored the City's goals in their season opener but they will have been disappointed as they let a two-goal lead slip.

Stellies, on the other hand, will go into the game with confidence having held Chippa United to a goalless draw in their first game in the top-flight.

Veteran defender Morgan Gould marshalled the troops well at the back and will look to do the same as against Cape Town City.

The team from the Cape Winelands will strive to find their first goals of the season and with the potent Iqraam Rayners leading the line, will always be a threat up front.

There should be a decent crowd in attendance and they will be looking for plenty of goal-mouth action.

The game kicks off at 6pm on Saturday evening.
