Mayambela wants to retire with Celtic

Mark Mayambela says he would like to finish his career with Bloemfontein Celtic amid reports of a return to Orlando Pirates.

The 32-year-old is currently without a club having being released by Cape Town City.

He played for Pirates earlier in his career and recently admitted to still having affection for Soweto side.

But when asked about his future plans, Mayambela revealed he would welcome a return to Siwelele, who he signed his first professional forms with back in 2007.

He told Far Post: "I'd like to finish it off at Celtic. That would be like completing the circle in my football career. Those people gave me everything I have.

"They [Celtic] gave me a chance in professional ranks, and they gave me a nickname (The Professor).

"They loved and supported me even when I came back in Bloemfontein, playing for other teams. Celtic will always be my home, they hold a special place in my heart."

He added: "I'm not in a hurry to find a team. If it happens that I play again, it will happen. If not, I will accept it."

Mayambela's form with Celtic earned him a switch to Pirates in 2010. From there he played for Mpumalanga Black Aces, Djurgardens, Royal Eagles, Chippa United, SuperSport United, Ajax Cape Town, Chippa United and Cape Town City.
