Thopola: Mokwena is on another level

Diamond Thopola is confident that Rhulani Mokwena can steer Chippa United to Premier League safety.

The Chilli Boys entered the enforced break and lockdown, as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, in 12th place on the 16 team league with six games to play.

But Thopola, who is on loan at the club from Orlando Pirates, says they are in "good hands" with former Bucs coach Mokwena.

The 30-year-old defender told SuperSport: "We are now with coach Mokwena and I enjoy working under his guidance. He has a strong work ethic and he is a master tactician.

"He is on another level and, in my own opinion, he is the future of South African football.

"Yes, we can (avoid relegation). We have a good team here with talented players, who are under the leadership of coach Mokwena. We are in good hands."

Thopola joined Pirates from Chippa in 2018 but struggled for game time ahead of returning to his former team on a season-long loan deal.

"Things did not work out for me there, but it's okay. I learnt a lot during my time with Pirates and I am grateful for the opportunity they gave me," he added.

"Every player wants some game time. I am still a Pirates player and if they called me back, I can only honour that and serve the team."
