Mpengesi tired of firing coaches
Chippa United chairman Siviwe Mpengesi says he's tired of continuously changing coaches as he praised the stability and success of Mamelodi Sundowns.
While the Chilli Boys are on their eighth coach in two years and the third already this season, head coach Pitso Mosimane has been with the Brazilians since 2012 and recently signed a new four-year deal.
Mpengesi sacked Clinton Larsen and Norman Mapeza before hiring Orlando Pirates' Rhulani Mokwena on loan for the rest of the season, in March.
Speaking to Goal, the former Sundowns coach revealed that Mpengesi suggested he was hoping to show more support for his coaches going forward.
Mokwena said: "He said to me 'perhaps it's time to show patience and a little bit more understanding [with coaches]. Albert Einstein said stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
"This was the quote he used to me. He also said, 'coach I'm tired of firing coaches, maybe it's about time I take a leaf out of Patrice Motsepe's book and show more patience and support for coaches'."
And on his relationship with the Chippa owner, Mokwena added: "I've found him to be a very good human being apart from being a good leader.
"He has a soft side to him. He has good leadership qualities in addition to his ambition and desire to succeed."
