Katlego Mphela tells Nurkovic and Kambole to deliver

Former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs striker Katlego Mphela says Amakhosi's new signings Samir Nurkovic and Lazarous Kambole have to produce the goods in attack week-in and week-out.

Mphela, who spent two seasons with the Glamour Boys where he scored three Premiership goals, believes at a big club like Chiefs you can't afford to not perform from one match to the next.

The former Bafana ace, who announced his retirement from playing after his last season in 2016/17 for Royal Eagles in the National First Division, told Soccer Laduma: "I have played for the national team and Mamelodi Sundowns, but to play for Chiefs is something else.

"There is so much pressure. More than Bafana Bafana because you go for duty once in a while, so sometimes you can get away with it. When you are at Chiefs that is when you realise how big they are. At some clubs you can do it this week and it's okay to not repeat it the following week, but at Chiefs you have to always do the job.

"With the previous strikers that played at Chiefs it makes it even more difficult because you have to follow Collins Mbesuma, Knowledge Musona and Fani Madida. I feel for the new strikers really. But with the support they have they will deliver - it is one big family there. As long as they (teammates) create chances for them. For Chiefs to sign them means they have seen them scoring goals."
