Castro, Nurkovic strike landmark goals for Amakhosi

Kaizer Chiefs forward duo Leonardo Castro and Samir Nurkovic struck landmark goals in Amakhosi's 5-3 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic on Saturday.

Castro scored a brace and Nurkovic a hat-trick as the entertaining win at the Moses Mabhida Stadium helped Chiefs maintain their ten-point lead at the top of the PSL standings.

The match was also significant for two landmark strikes as Colombian marksman Castro netted Amakhosi's 1000th goal in the PSL era that started in 1996.

Serbian striker Nurkovic's treble was also first time a Chiefs player has scored a hat-trick in six seasons.

Chiefs head coach Ernst Middendorp said on the club's website: "Yes this is an important milestone to achieve.

"I'm glad Leonardo Castro scored this landmark goal and mainly contributing to a win.

"These are important highlight and products of the teamwork."

On Nurkovic's achievement, Middendorp added: "Yes, another one to highlight. It is all in the attitude and the quality of the player.

"Samir Nurkovic works tirelessly for the team. He deserved the goals and the Man of the Match tag."

Amakhosi are back in action on 22 December when they take on Maritzburg United in an Absa Premiership encounter.
