Pitso signs new four-year deal with Downs

Mamelodi Sundowns have handed head coach Pitso Mosimane a new four-year contract.

Club president Patrice Motsepe made the announcement during a live Zoom call alongside Mosimane and academy director Jose Ramon Alexanko.

After announcing a nation-wide song writing challenge as well as the extended development of the club's training facility and youth academy, Motsepe revealed his delight at tying Mosimane to a new deal.

The President said: "Mamelodi Sundowns is pleased to announce the contract extension of its head coach for a further four years.

"I am very happy that the Sundowns coach has decided to renew."

Motsepe was adamant in his assertion that Mosimane was never set to leave the club, likening him to Sir Alex Ferguson, who spent 26 years at Manchester United. Mosimane has so far been at Sundowns for seven and a half years.

Motsepe continued: "He is my Sir Alex Ferguson. I've always wanted to keep him at Sundowns. If it was up to me I would have signed him for eight years."

Mosimane added that he was more than happy to remain with the Brazilians, and even promised his chairman another CAF Champions League title to go with the lone star they claimed in 2016.

The head coach said: "I want to thank you Mr. President, and everybody in the club for their contribution to where we are as a club.

"I am please to confirm I have signed a four year contract with the club I dearly love.

"Thank you Mr. President for entrusting me with the team after being with the club for the past seven and a half years.

"I want to thank the players and the staff at the club for their commitment. Everything we achieved could never have been done without them.

"We will up the gears and challenge ourselves to reach greater heights, the sky is the limit, we can do better.

" I don't take this contract for granted. I feel blessed and honoured and the best is still yet to come, we are still going to be celebrating more trophies. I promise to work even harder so we can reach greater heights.

"We will not stop until we deliver the second star!"
