Nyirenda hammers match officials after Downs defeat
Baroka coach Wedson Nyirenda has blamed the performance of the match officials following Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the Premiership.
The result means Bakgaga remain in deep trouble in the battle for survival as they currently occupy the relegation/promotion playoff place in 15th. Maritzburg United bring up the rear in rock bottom.
Nonetheless, was absolutely furious with the officials and referee Victor Hlungwani, who sent off Rodwell Chinyengetere for what appeared to be a stamp on Hlompho Kekana.
He said: "So amazing. I think this is one of the matches that will go down in my history [as worst] in PSL. "I saw many things that I never saw before. I have to review it again on TV so that I can see it properly because I don't know what to make out of it. Most of the decisions I don't know what to make out of it.
"If you saw it, it became bad for us when we lost the player. How can that be a red card? How can that be a foul in the first place?
"It paralysed the team. He knows that with 11 against 11 they were not doing anything and he had to bring us to nine men [sic]."
Baroka continue their desperate attempt to beat the drop when they face Free State Stars on Wednesday at Goble Park Stadium in Bethlehem.
