Masalesa weighs up his options over next PSL deal
Black Leopards midfielder Lehlogonolo Masalesa says he is in talks over a new deal with the club though he is open to other offers in the Premiership.
Masalesa signed for Leopards last December and proved to be a hit in Thohoyandou as he started 14 games in the Premiership.
The mercurial playmaker has had a stop/start career characterised by glittering performances and then at times underwhelming displays.
However, the 27-year-old seems to have found his niche at Lidoda Duvha though he is said to have caught the attention of some other suitors in South Africa's top flight.
The player's deal expires at the end of June and the Turfloop-born star is eager to secure his longer term future.
He told the Soccer Laduma: "My contract is ending. Look, I went there and things went well so, obviously we were talking, engaging on the possibility of me staying, you see.
"So I will see in the coming days or weeks what's happening. I don't think there's a rush because my contract only ends next month.
"It's not necessarily that I'm looking at other offers but I think I have to sit down and think carefully about what is right for me going forward.
"Like I said things went well at Leopards so I will continue waiting to hear what is it they are saying, what are the terms of me staying, and whoever comes with an offer, if it's tabled then we will talk but for now there's not much I can say.
"The thing is I wanna do what's best for my football career - number one, I had a good time at Leopards, there's a possibility of me staying, there's a possibility of me leaving.
My children are in Joburg which is a bit difficult, that's all I'm saying...it's about what Leopards put on the table. Is it more long term? Can I move my family? Things like that.
"I will go wherever it will be best for (myself) and my family because when you become a parent you don't think only about yourself. So if Leopards is the best option (then) I can stay, and if there's another club that's best for my family, I can also go there.
"I think I can only answer that once there's an offer on the table because I'm hearing this from you, I don't know about it. I don't like talking about something that I'm not sure of. I think I will consider that offer once it's there.
"Ja we've been engaging over the past few days...I think since Monday. So ja it's not for me to jump and say yes you see. There's lots of things to consider...maybe once I tick my own personal boxes and I'm satisfied, I can make a decision."
