Baxter names Starting XI for AFCON opener

Ronwen Williams will start in goal for Bafana Bafana ahead of Darren Keet for their AFCON opener against Ivory Coast at Cairo Stadium on Monday.

Keet played a starring role for Bafana in their 2-1 qualification-sealing win over Libya, but coach Stuart Baxter has given Williams the nod for the first game of the continental showpiece.

Williams kept the most clean sheets in the Absa Premiership last season and will be protected by a back four of Thamsanqa Mkhize, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Buhle Mkhwanazi and Sifiso Hlanti.

Dean Furman, Kamohelo Mokotjo, Themba Zwane and Lebohang Maboe will start in midfield. Finally, Percy Tau and Lebo Mothiba lead the attack as the two strikers.

The match gets underway at 16h30.
