Baxter: No substance to rumours linking me with Pirates
Former Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter has flatly shut down talks that he has been in contact with Orlando Pirates officials over the vacant coaching position.
Milutin Sredojevic shocked everyone when he quit his post with the Buccaneers on Friday with his assistant coach Rulani Mokwena currently in charge of the team.
Baxter is not attached to any job at the moment after resigning as Bafana Bafana coach last month, just two years into a five-year contract.
Reports have emerged that the former Kaizer Chiefs mentor has been speaking to Orlando Pirates officials, but Baxter squashed those rumours.
The Englishman said as reported by Soccer Laduma: "There's absolutely no substance to rumours linking me with the Pirates job, even though I respect them as a football club.
"Even if I was to come back to South Africa at some point then it wouldn’t be now, because I’m back in Sweden and I’m assessing my options here."
Baxter added: "I’ve had interest from Steaua Bucure?ti FC in Romania, and there’s also been interest from other countries too.
"I’ve just been invited to Stockholm to be part of AIK’s Europa League game against Celtic, so that’s currently the next thing on my agenda."
