Jordaan and Khoza meet with Minister of Sport, Arts and Recreation

Danny Jordaan and Irvin Khoza have met with the Minister of Sport, Arts and Recreation Nathi Mthethwa to 'resolve outstanding issues'.

Mthethwa had previously stated a desire for the Premiership to continue, albeit behind closed doors, amid growing concerns of the coronavirus.

SAFA president Jordaan, though, announced his organisation's opposition to the idea, while the PSL Chairman was also against it.

Writing on his Twitter account, Mthethwa said: "Today I called the meeting between the President of the South African Football Association (SAFA) Dr Danny Jordaan and the Chairman of the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) Dr Irvin Khoza to resolve outstanding issues which have been of great importance recently.

"I sought a commitment from them to work cohesively in unison and I'm pleased that they have committed to addressing matters together before reaching out to government and other stakeholders. Furthermore, they reiterated their resolve to fight the coronavirus pandemic."

All local football is currently suspended until April 16, 2020, after SAFA extended the ban from the initial date of April 4 in line with the nationwide lockdown set to start on Thursday evening.
