Tshabalala open to Chiefs' farewell

Siphiwe Tshabalala would welcome the chance to end his career at Kaizer Chiefs before taking up a new role in football.

The 35-year-old former Bafana striker spent over 10 years with Amakhosi before grabbing his chance at European football with Turkish side Erzurumspor in 2018.

The coronavirus pandemic derailed an opportunity for Tshabalala to make a move to China, following his departure from Turkey.

And Jazzman Mahlakgane says his client is open to seeing out his playing days with Chiefs.

Mahlakgane added that Tshabalala is not currently considering a role in coaching.

He told the Citizen: "He is considering other options.

"If he is playing it has to be with his former club [Chiefs], he would want to do it for closure or to retire at the club he played at for 11 years.

"Covid-19 messed up our plans for China [there was an offer from the Chinese leagues]. We had one team that approached us that was even local before Covid-19, but then this happened, and he has been exploring other options.

"It would not be coaching [at another club] it would be administrative [within football]."
