Monare: We are doing it for the badge

Thabang Monare says Bidvest Wits have to put the sale of the club aside as they bid to finish the 2019/20 Premiership season on a high note.

The Clever Boys are back in action on Saturday against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals.

Monare won't play, however, after picking up an injury in training but says his teammates are ready.

He told KickOff: "The sad thing is that I will miss the game on Saturday.

"I suffered a knee injury whilst trying to take a shot at training, and it is still painful."

Regarding the sale of Wits, Monare added on Times Live: "It's done now [the sale] and we just have to put that aside and focus on the remainder of the season..

"Everyone is ready‚ everyone is positive and we just want to go out there and do this for the club.

"It is for the last time we are doing it for the badge – it has to be done in a different way.

"It was difficult training and not knowing when we are going to play but we were happy to be back training because we have been sitting at home for about three months.

"When we were called back to training‚ there was hope that we will eventually go back to playing matches."
