Da Gama wants schoolboy errors to stop for Lions of North

Highlands Park coach Owen da Gama says his side have to improve defensively if they are to ensure their solid season continues in the Premiership.

The Lions of the North suffered a 2-1 defeat in their last league outing against Golden Arrows and subsequently have dropped to tenth in the standings in South Africa's top flight.

On Saturday they face league leaders Bidvest Wits at the Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa and will no doubt look for a positive result as they seek to move further away from the relegation zone.

He said: "In the beginning of the season we knew about these challenges hence we've been trying different players to get the right back four.

"We need to brush it off as soon as possible. Some players need more time to understand what we need from them.

"It also shows the problem we have at the back, we made schoolboy errors and we got punished. We were educated on the day, Steve [Komphela] did his homework on us.

"We will try and sort this out soon, I won't punish them. I just need to keep on reminding them that we need to stay focused and keep up the consistency."

Saturday's action is set to get underway from 15:30 in the East Rand.
