Soweto Derby preview: Orlando Pirates v Kaizer Chiefs
In what will be one of the most important Soweto derby's in recent memory, Orlando Pirates take on Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on Saturday with two German coaches in the dugout.
Amakhosi go into the much-anticipated encounter as log leaders, holding a four-point lead over Mamelodi Sundowns with ten games of Premiership season still remaining.
The Buccaneers sit in third place on the PSL table, six points behind the leaders, having played a game more than there Soweto rivals, but know a victory in the derby is imperative if they are to have a sniff of winning the league trophy.
Pirates enter the contest in prime form having won six games in a row in the league with their German mentor Josef Zinnbauer having made a big impact since taking over head coaching duties in December.
Chiefs, on the other hand, have only won one out of their last three league matches and have blown a big lead in the title race.
The Glamour Boys though did win the reverse fixture 3-2 earlier in the campaign and are looking to complete a league double over their rivals for the first time since 2006.
Both teams don't have any suspensions or major injury worries ahead of the clash but Amakhosi coach Ernst Middendorp has a tough decision to make with regards to his starting goalkeeper as he has to choose between Daniel Akpeyi and Itumeleng Khune.
The Soweto derby is scheduled to kick off at 3:30pm from the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
