Bidvest Wits v Chippa United

Bidvest Wits will aim to get back to the winning trail in the Absa Premiership on Saturday when they host a Chippa United side under new leadership.

The Clever Boys have struggled for consistency in recent weeks and consequently slipped down to sixth position in the league standings, 14 points adrift of leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

Head coach Gavin Hunt's men have claimed only one victory in their last five Premiership outings, a 1-0 win over Baroka FC, and most recently suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of SuperSport United.

Despite their hardships Wits still have every chance of moving back up the table as they have only played 19 league games, which is four fewer than SuperSport and Maritzburg who occupy fourth and fifth positions respectively.

Meanwhile, the Chilli Boys will be under the command of new head coach Rhulani Mokwena for the Wits clash, following the departure of Norman Mapeza earlier this week.

Chippa are 11th in the standings but remain in real danger of getting dragged into a relegation dog fight, as they are only five points clear of the bottom two.

Mokwena is determined to make his mark at the club before the end of the season, and knows his first task is to secure their top-flight status, but he admits the game against Wits will aid as more of an assessment opportunity.

"The Wits game is more of an aiding match, it gives me an opportunity of having to look at the players and collect data," he said, according to KickOff.

"We will have two training sessions but it's enough for proper preparations. I am one for details with regards to how we prepare for matches.

"Unfortunately things have happened the way they happened, which has minimised the amount of time we have.

"But be that as it may, we will always do what we can and make sure that we approach the game with the right mentality."

Chippa come into the game on the back of a 1-0 win over bottom-of-the-table AmaZulu.
