Stellenbosch v Mamelodi Sundowns

Stellenbosch will be targeting their fourth consecutive Absa Premiership win at home on Wednesday when they host title challengers Mamelodi Sundowns.

Stellies have notched up three 1-0 wins in their last three home league games, beating Baroka, Polokwane City, and SuperSport United.

However, the optimism that was cultivated by those victories took a knock in their most recent outing last Friday when they were thrashed 3-0 by Maritzburg United.

The Cape Winelands outfit are currently in 11th position in the standings, four points clear of the relegation zone, and could climb to ninth with a win at Athlone Stadium.

Meanwhile, Pitso Mosimane's charges will be determined to claim their fourth consecutive Premiership win, after beating SuperSport, Chippa, and Bloemfontein Celtic in their last three league encounters.

Masandawana are second in the Absa Premiership standings, seven points behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs, but they have two games in hand and can't afford to drop points at this stage of the title race.

The Chloorkop outfit haven't played in the league since February 19, as they most recently battled it out with Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals, which they lost 3-1 on aggregate.

The last time these two sides met, back in November last year, it was Sundowns who came out on top 3-1.
