Golden Arrows v Maritzburg Utd
Golden Arrows will have their new head coach, Steve Komphela, in the home dugout for the visit of KZN rivals Maritzburg United to Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Sunday.
The former Chiefs mentor was unveiled by Arrows late last week in a announcement which came just hours after he confirmed his departure from Bloemfontein Celtic.
Komphela takes over with Abafana Bes'thende 11th in the league standings, just four points clear of the dreaded drop zone.
And, that is not the only change at Arrows in recent times, as veteran striker Mabhuti Khenyeza announced his retirement on Wednesday before linking up with Maritzburg United as assistant to new head coach Muhsin Ertugral.
Khenyeza's contributions to the cause will not be forgotten by former Arrows coach Khabo Zondo, who told KickOff: "He will be missed. Mabhuti lasted this long in football because of his attitude towards the game.
"You don't find him on the wrong side of things most of the time. He concentrated on his game and training was key.
"He helped himself a lot with good training, good behaviour outside of the game. He will be missed a lot, to be honest, because we don't find players like Mabhuti anymore who are rounded with these aspects of the game."
Ertugral, meanwhile, has been drafted in by Maritzburg as Fadlu Davids' replacement, followed shortly by the appointment of Khenyeza as his assistant.
Explaining his decision to join Ertugral at Maritzburg, Khenyeza said: "People don't know that me and coach, we've been talking for years, from Ajax Cape Town days.
"From there we've developed a strong relationship, on and off the field. He's one of the guys who has been motivating me to take up this role."
