Absa Premiership Preview: SuperSport v Cape Town City

SuperSport United's capacity to re-ignite their Absa Premiership challenge will rest heavily on the availability of Dean Furman and Bradley Grobler for the remainder of this campaign.

There is slender evidence to suggest that they will be involved in the return of Premiership action on Saturday, when SuperSport host another ambitious club - Cape Town City.

A defeat for either team will be disastrous on Saturday and both team coaches will be well aware of it.

City might be outside the league's top eight, but a spot in African competition is still there for the taking, such is the congestion at the top of the standings.

A victory will be more important for SuperSport though, as it will put tremendous pressure on the likes of Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits, both of whom lead the pack.

City have been among the most prolific in the Premiership this season, having breached opposition defences 20 times. Only league leaders Bidvest Wits have scored more goals.

However, the defence has been absolutely porous - and sometimes unlucky this season.

Nevertheless, there is a leak there and it needs to be plugged. The hosts will be encouraged that detail.

All eyes are on Siphelele Mthembu and Ayanda Patosi ahead of this weekend's clash.

Both have been the spearheads of this Cape Town City team. The jury is therefore out on whether SuperSport will be able to hold them.
