Nyatama wins triple crown at Pirates awards

Musa Nyatama was the big star of Thursday's Orlando Pirates 2017/18 awards ceremony, winning the Player of the Season, Player's Player of the Season and Fan's Player of the Season prizes.

Nyatama was a mainstay in the Bucs midfield, netting four goals as Pirates finished second in the Premiership to Mamelodi Sundowns, securing Champions League football.

Left-back Innocent Maela picked up the Prospect of the Season award, while Augustine Mulenga won Goal of the Season and Luvuyo Memela the Golden Boot.

Wayne Sandilands picked up the Golden Glove and Happy Jele the Chairman's Award, while Augustine Mahlonoko was named Development Player of the Season and Samuel Nkomo Reserves Player of the Season.

Pirates brought back their end-of-season awards ceremony after a four-year absence, acknowledging individual contributions to the club's impressive 2017/18 campaign.

Come the start of the new season, set for two weeks from now, they will be aiming higher and looking to wrestle the title away from Mamelodi Sundowns.
