Solinas: We showed lots of character

Giovanni Solinas was delighted to see Kaizer Chiefs progress in their Telkom Knockout with a 1-0 defeat of SuperSport this weekend.

Ramahlwe Mphahlele's 39th minute penalty sealed the tie, at a raucous Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Speaking after the game, the Amakhosi boss told the club's website: "Foremost, let me congratulate my team.

"We showed lots of character against a resilient SuperSport United. They are a good team. They are very difficult to beat. They are very physical and tactically strong."

Chiefs' reward is a semi-final match-up with rivals Orlando Pirates.

Solinas continued: "We played very well in the first half, while we soaked up the pressure in the second half.

"We were not so fluid though. But we will take this win to the next game to improve our log position."

Up next for Chiefs is a Premiership clash with Black Leopards at the FNB Stadium at 19:30 on Wednesday.
