The 40-year-old Portuguese coach raised fresh doubts about his long-term future at Old Trafford, openly questioning aspects of the club's structure and admitting frustration with the current set-up.

Amorim went as far as publicly telling United's scouting department and sporting director to "do their job", remarks that underlined a growing sense of unease behind the scenes.

Those comments came after United were held by their rivals in a heated encounter in Yorkshire. Leeds took the lead through Brenden Aaronson, but Matheus Cunha responded for the visitors, his strike cancelling out the opener and ensuring the points were shared.

The match was followed by post-match drama, adding further edge to an already charged afternoon.

"Guys, to start with that - and I noticed that you receive selective information about everything - I came here to be the manager of the Manchester United, not to be the coach of Manchester United," Amorim said.

"And that is clear.

"I know that my name is not (Thomas) Tuchel, it's not (Antonio) Conte, it's not (Jose) Mourinho but I'm the manager of Manchester United.

"And it's going to be like this for 18 months or when the board decides to change, so that was my point.

"I want to finish with that. I'm not going to quit. I will do my job until another guy is coming here to replace me."

He added: "In every department - the scouting department, the sporting director - needs to do their job. I will do mine for 18 months and then we move on."

Amorim's blunt assessment did not come entirely out of the blue. In the build-up to the fixture, he had alluded to behind-the-scenes frustration and refused to clarify earlier comments relating to the club's transfer plans. He appeared notably downbeat when sidestepping questions on recruitment prior to kick-off.
