The Portuguese attacker joined the Tshwane giants in August from Liga Portugal side Vitoria SC, arriving with valuable exposure to UEFA competitions, including the Europa League and UEFA Conference League. However, Santos admits African club football has presented a completely new test.

Since linking up with the 2016 African champions, Santos has wasted little time making his mark on the continent. He has featured four times in the CAF Champions League, registering an impressive return of three goals and two assists as Sundowns continue their push for continental glory.

"Playing in Africa's top competition is an incredible experience," Santos said via the club's digital magazine.

"The intensity, the atmosphere and the travel are completely different. It challenges you in ways you don't always experience in Europe, but it is also very inspiring."

Santos also reflected on the significance of contributing to a historic moment for the club.

"To be part of a win that made history for Sundowns was unbelievable," he continued.

"When I scored my first goal in the Champions League, I thought about everyone who believed in me. That feeling pushed me to want to give even more to this club."

Beyond performances on the pitch, the former Vitória midfielder spoke warmly about embracing life at Chloorkop and the culture surrounding the club.

"It feels amazing to be a Mamelodi Sundowns player," he added.

"Not everyone gets the opportunity to represent a club with such history, ambition and expectations. From the moment you walk into Chloorkop, you can feel the passion and the responsibility. It pushes you to improve every day."

Santos will now turn his attention to Sundowns' upcoming CAF Champions League clash against Al Hilal after the Africa Cup of Nations break.

The Portuguese midfielder will be eager to build on his strong start in the competition and play a key role as the Brazilians continue their quest for continental honours.
