Harry Kane scored a brace to help the Bavarians to a 3-0 win over Werder Bremen at the Weserstadion, maintaining their six-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga.

The pair of goals took the England international to a major career milestone of 500 senior goals for club and country.

Kane opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute before doubling his tally and Bayern's advantage just three minutes later with a powerful low drive that went in off the post.

Leon Goretzka completed the scoring and secured the visitors' win with a well-taken finish from close range in the 70th minute.

Over at Signal Iduna Park, Borussia Dortmund maintained their winning streak and ensured they remained within touching distance of Bayern with an emphatic 4-0 thrashing of Mainz.

Dortmund dominated the match, holding around 55% of the possession and creating over 2.3xG from 14 shot at goal.

Serhou Guirassy opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a powerful header before Maximilian Beyer doubled their advantage just five minutes later.

Guirassy then completed his brace three minutes before half-time to put the home side out of sight before Remy Bensebaini grabbed a late fourth goal to put the cherry on the cake in the 84th minute.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga on Saturday, an Ermedin Demirovic brace (84', 15') alongside Deniz Undav's stoppage time goal were enough to hand Stuttgart a 3-1 win over FC Koln at MHP Arena, with Ragnar Ache scoring for the visitors in the 79th minute.

TSG Hoffenheim made short work of SC Freiburg at the PreZero Arena, with goals from Fisnik Asllani (46'), Ozan Kabak (51') and Valentin Gendrey driving them to a 3-0 win.

Eintracht Frankfurt beat Borussia Monchengladbach 3-0 at Deutsche Bank Park with Nathaniel Brown (29'), Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab (34') and Ansgar Knauff (75') all getting on the scoresheet.

Bayer Leverkusen thrashed St Pauli 4-0 at the BayArena thanks to goals from Jarell Quansah (13'), Patrik Schick (14'), Edmond Tapsoba (52') and Ernest Poku (78').

The most exciting viewing of the day was to be found in the back-and-forth encounter between HSV and Union Berlin at Voksparksadion, which ended in a 3-2 win for the home side.

Leopold Querfeld opened the scoring for the visitors with a 28th-minute penalty before Ransford Yeboah Konigsdorffer restored parity seven minutes later.

The home side grabbed a goal on the brink of half time through Nicolas Capaldo to land a significant psychological blow.

HSV thought they had the match done and dusted when Yeboah Königsdörffer scored his second of the game in the 82nd minute to put them 3-1 but Angrej Ilic struck in the 89th minute to make things interesting.

Utlimately the home side was able to cling on for a dramatic 3-2 win.
