Former Orlando Pirates star Alfred 'Shakes' Gwabeni is very impressed by what he has seen so far regarding Bucs midfielder Miguel Timm during the DStv Premiership campaign.

The 30-year-old Timm was signed by Pirates from Marumo Gallants in July 2022 and has been a brilliant acquisition by the club, producing constant great performances for the Buccaneers.

The midfielder has played in 10 games for Pirates so far, including a Man of the Match performance in the MTN8 final which saw Pirates beat AmaZulu FC to win the trophy.

In an interview carried by KickOff, Bucs legend Gwabeni had a lot of positive things to say about Timm and his performances for the Soweto Giants.

"He's been one of the most important players in the team," Gwabeni said.

"I think he's a played nearly every game and you can see how strong the defence is and you can see that he's missed when he's not there.

"He's a quality player and we have to give credit to the team management for getting him in the window," he added.

Timm's great form has been rewarded with a Bafana Bafana call-up by coach Hugo Broos.

In the recent friendly international against Mozambique which Bafana won 2-1, Timm received praise from coach Broos for his great performance.

"You need players who can give the same performance for their clubs and also on this [international] level. Today, I saw players who can do that," Broos said.

"I saw new players and if I can mention one, it is Timm.

"You saw what he did at Pirates and he also did the same thing here. That means that he can play on this level," Broos added.
