Joao Nevas (6', 39') bagged a brace and substitute Tomas Aviles (44') deflected the ball into his own net before Achraf Hakimi added his obligatory goal (45+3') in a completely one-sided first half of football.

PSG dominated possession in the opening exchanges and were nearly a goal up after just four minutes through Bradley Barcola. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia created the chance with a weaving run into the box and neat lay off, only for Oscar Ustari to make a strong save with an outstretched boot.

But the reprieve only lasted a few minutes as Neves was given the simplest of tasks of slotting home unchallenged from in front of the target after some neat interplay and final pass from Ruiz.

And PSG were another goal to the good with the first half drawing to a close as a whipped in cross from the right-hand side, hit the body of substitute Aviles and ended up in the Miami net.

Hakimi then got himself on the scoresheet in first-half stoppage time with a quick-fire finish after his own effort rebounded back to him, following a clever cut back from Nevas on the right flank.

Luis Suarez really should have pulled a goal back just minutes after the restart, but his touch let him down as a delightful ball over the top from Messi dropped to him, after some good work to get the ball forward from Jordi Alba.

A more determined Messi was starting to influence Miami in attack but with no real end product, while the introduction of Ousmane Dembele, for Neves on 62 minutes, for his first appearance of the competition after recovering from injury, only gave PSG more control of the tie.

Messi broke through into the box after a neat lay-off from Suarez, but couldn't beat the keeper, as Kvaratskhelia curled a right-footed effort wide at the other end.

Tadeo Allende then pulled his effort wide and Ustari stopped Hakimi from getting on the end of another good Vitihna delivery as space began to open up for both teams.

Barcola's 69th minute effort was defected over the target, as Desire Doue blasted wide with his effort from the right-hand side as PSG continued to look for goals, while Messi so nearly played in Suarez for a late consolation goal with the game drawing to a close.

And Messi was inches away from scoring one himself with a powerful header that had Donnarumma scrambling low to his right.

But PSG ultimately saw out the rest of the tie with relative ease, to secure their place in the quarter-finals, that take place in Atlanta next Saturday.
