Sesko is known for his commanding 6ft 5in presence and knack for unsettling defenders.

The Magpies' pursuit comes as they brace for the potential departure of their star forward Alexander Isak, who has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.

Leipzig, who missed out on European football for the first time since their 2016 Bundesliga promotion, are open to selling Sesko to raise funds. Journalist Nicola Schira reported on X, "Benjamin Sesko has an agreement in principle with Newcastle for a contract until 2030. NUFC are now working to reach a deal with Leipzig."

Sources suggest Leipzig could accept a fee around 70 million euros, lower than Sesko's 80-million-euro release clause, making the deal financially viable for Newcastle.

However, Manchester United remain in the hunt for Sesko, with German journalist Guido Schafer claiming the striker prefers a move to Old Trafford. United's interest stems from their need for a new No. 9 to lead Ruben Amorim's attack, but former United defender Rio Ferdinand has urged caution.

Speaking on his podcast, Ferdinand said, "I'm not doubting Sesko as a player. But United need experience at the top of the pitch. They've got young, inexperienced players like Hojlund and Zirkzee. I'd rather go for someone like Brighton's Carlos Baleba in midfield—Premier League proven, tactically sharp, and all-action."

Newcastle's transfer plans don't stop at Sesko. They have also targeted Brentford's Yoane Wissa, who scored 19 Premier League goals last season. Wissa, eager to join a Champions League side, has agreed personal terms with Newcastle, though Brentford rejected a 25-million-pound bid, holding out for over 40 million pounds.

Sources indicate Wissa is "furious" at Brentford's reluctance to sell and "does not intend to play for them again."

Meanwhile, Isak's future remains uncertain. The Swedish striker, who netted 23 Premier League goals last term, has expressed a desire to explore his options, with Liverpool leading the chase. Posts on X suggest Isak has told Newcastle he wants to join the Premier League champions, who are preparing a bid that could exceed their record 116-million-pound signing of Florian Wirtz. Newcastle, however, value Isak at around 150 million pounds and have publicly stated he is not for sale.

Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler weighed in on Isak's potential move, saying, "He's phenomenal. His pace, finishing, and movement would make Liverpool even stronger contenders for the title." Yet, Newcastle's captain Bruno Guimaraes emphasized the club's stance, telling Sky Sports, "We want to keep our best players."

Eddie Howe's side, fresh off a fifth-place finish and Carabao Cup triumph, are gearing up for a demanding 2025-26 season with Champions League football. Their only major signing so far is Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest for 55 million pounds, but they remain active in the market, with Sesko and Wissa high on their list to bolster their attack.

As negotiations intensify, Newcastle's bold moves signal their ambition to stay competitive, but Isak's potential exit could reshape their plans. For now, the Magpies are pressing hard to secure Sesko and Wissa, aiming to maintain their attacking firepower.
