Here is a preview of five matches taking place in the final round of the DStv Premiership this weekend.

Richards Bay FC v Stellenbosch FC

In one of the most highly anticipated matchups in the DStv Premiership this weekend, Richards Bay FC aim to steer clear of the PSL Relegation play-offs as they brace themselves for a challenging encounter against Stellenbosch FC at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday.

The Natal Rich Boyz currently sit in 15th place on the log, heading into their final league match of the season, three points behind 14th-placed Royal AM.

Richards Bay need a victory against Stellies to have a chance of escaping the PSL Relegation play-offs, while also hoping that Royal AM lose their match against Moroka Swallows at Dobsonville Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

Stellenbosch, meanwhile, are looking to secure a 2nd place finish after accumulating 50 points in 29 games this season.

The Winelands side hold a narrow one-point lead over Orlando Pirates and cannot finish lower than 3rd this season. Essentially, regardless of the result against Richards Bay this weekend, Stellies will qualify for either the CAF Champions League or CAF Confederations Cup by the end of the final DStv Premiership gameweek.

Polokwane City v TS Galaxy

Polokwane City will face a tough challenge against TS Galaxy in the DStv Premiership on Saturday at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Polokwane City have seen a decline in form following their 1-0 victory over Cape Town Spurs at the end of April. They have since played to three consecutive goalless draws against Richards Bay, Sekhukhune United and Kaizer Chiefs.

The Limpopo side currently sit in 10th place in the league standings with 36 points, level with AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs, who are in ninth and eighth place, respectively.

TS Galaxy have won one of their last three DStv Premiership matches, which was against Orlando Pirates. They drew their matches against Cape Town City and the already crowned champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Sead Ramovic’s team are in fourth place on the log with a total of 44 points, trailing Pirates by five points.

Swallows FC v Royal AM

Royal AM head coach John Maduka has emphasised the need to be "smart" against Swallows FC at Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday to avoid the promotion/relegation playoffs.

Thwihli Thwahla only need a point on the final day of the DStv Premiership season to secure their safety after holding Chippa United to a 0-0 draw last weekend.

Maduka's team are three points ahead of Richards Bay in 14th place, but with a poorer goal difference (-20 to -14), meaning a loss to the Dube Birds could allow the Natal Rich Boyz, who are hosting Stellenbosch, to escape relegation.

The draw with the Chilli Boys ended a five-match losing streak for the Durban side, although they remain winless in their last seven games.

Swallows secured their top-flight status after Richards Bay's 3-1 loss to Cape Town City last weekend, widening the gap between the two clubs to five points.

Musa Nyatama's team boosted their survival hopes with a 2-0 victory over the Maroons on May 11, moving them above Royal AM to 13th position.

Chippa United v Sekhukhune United

With Chippa United and Sekhukhune United struggling to find form during the closing stages of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership campaign, the Chilli Boys and Babina Noko will close their league season with a duel at the Buffalo City Municipality Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Sitting in 12th position on the table, Chippa go into their final DStv Premiership game on the back of a frustrating run that has seen them record three losses and two draws in their last five fixtures.

Having secured their spot in the DStv Premiership for next season, Chippa go into their final league assignment free of relegation worries. The Chilli Boys narrowly avoided relegation during the 22/23 campaign, where they finished just one point clear of the automatic drop zone.

As for Babina Noko, the Limpopo side are winless in their last five league matches after recording two losses and three draws in their last five matches.

Regardless of any result this weekend, Sekhukhune will remain in the top eight of the DStv Premiership, with 7th being the lowest position they could drop into.

When the two sides last met in the league, Babina Noko bagged a 2-0 win at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in December, as goals by Jamie Webber and Vusimuzi Mncube jotted their names down on the scoresheet.

AmaZulu FC v Golden Arrows

AmaZulu FC will go head-to-head with Golden Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in their last DStv Premiership match of the season on Saturday.

Usuthu are undefeated in their last three matches having snapped a three-match winless run when they secured a 1-0 victory over Sekhukhune United away on 18 May.

AmaZulu are occupying ninth spot on the DStv Premiership standings - level on points with eighth-placed Kaizer Chiefs and three points behind fifth-placed SuperSport United.

Meanwhile, Arrows stretched their winless run to eight matches when they drew 1-1 with Cape Town Spurs at home on 18 May and it was also their third successive draw.

Arrows are occupying the 11th spot in the DStv Premiership standings - a point behind eighth-placed Chiefs with the battle to finish in the Top 8 set to take centre stage.
