Strong performances on the FIFA World Cup stage often lead to lucrative overseas moves, as clubs from Europe and beyond closely monitor players performing under intense pressure.

Bafana have already made history by reaching the knockout stages for the first time after a 1-0 win over South Korea, and they now prepare to face hosts Canada on Sunday evening.

Khumalo praised Adams and Moremi's talent and mentality as South Africa continued their historic run in the tournament.

“I think there are a couple of young boys that, if given a chance, they can prove themselves to be elite players.” said the former Bafana great.

"You look at Jayden Adams from Mamelodi Sundowns, a young boy that comes from Cape Town. He played for Stellenbosch and then he moved to Sundowns. He just earned himself a star when they won the Champions League. And I must say that he's one of the players that worked very hard to earn himself a place in the Bafana Bafana squad.

"The past couple of years he had a very serious hiccup with the coaches [with Broos dropping him from the Bafana squad and questioning his commitment, and Adams struggling for game time subsequently at Sundowns].

"He was not playing. He was not getting any game time, but when he was given a chance, he actually grabbed it with both hands. And that's the reason why we now see him commanding a place in the starting 11."

Khumalo also revealed the emotional challenge Adams faced during the tournament.

"Against Czechia, he had a very serious problem. His grandmother passed away and he received the news just hours before the game. Maybe that was a reason why he was substituted. But he has worked very hard to command that position in the final squad and also in the Mamelodi Sundowns team."

Turning to Orlando Pirates winger Tshepang Moremi, Khumalo added: "And then we also have Tshepang Moremi who plays for Orlando Pirates, and Pirates bought him from AmaZulu. And again, this is one of the youngsters that I strongly believe has the potential to be scouted to play overseas."
