The first half was largely cagey, with neither team able to carve out clear-cut chances. Arrows started with slightly more possession, but their passing lacked the cutting edge needed to trouble Stellenbosch goalkeeper Sage Stephens.

After the interval, Abafana Bes'thende manager Mabhuti Khenyeza made a triple substitution, introducing Nhlanhla Gasa, Sboniso Madonsela, and Sabelo Sithole to inject life into the home side's attack. Stellenbosch responded almost immediately. The draw keeps the top-eight battle incredibly tight. Golden Arrows move into eighth place, but only goal difference separates them from the chasing pack, while Stellenbosch remain in 10th, just behind TS Galaxy in ninth.
