Liverpool return from the international break with a major test at Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday, before a Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain and key league games against Fulham and Everton.

Slot admitted the challenge is huge but believes his squad are ready. "Excited. This is what we worked for throughout the season, to be involved in games like this," he said. "If you reach the quarter-finals, you know you will face top teams. It's exciting for us."

He also made it clear Liverpool will not be intimidated. "I think it's also challenging for them to play Liverpool," he added, pointing to previous meetings with PSG as proof his side can compete at the highest level.

Despite Liverpool's strong performances this season, Slot acknowledged inconsistency has been an issue. "We've shown many times we can be a very good team, but also that we can look vulnerable," he said. "We have to get the best out of ourselves again in these weeks."

Looking ahead to the packed schedule, Slot described it as the reason players compete at the top level. "These are beautiful fixtures. Everybody is talking about them. This is why you play football," he said.

He also pointed to recent injury problems as a factor in dropped levels, referencing absences for key players in recent matches. "That had a lot to do with players not being available," he explained.

On facing City, Slot stressed the need for Liverpool to match their best levels. "We need to be the team we were in our strongest performances," he said. "City have shown many times how good they are, with top players and a top manager."

There was also positive news on Alexander Isak, who is set to return to training today after a long injury lay-off. Slot said, "It's very nice for everyone to have him back. We signed an incredible striker."

With two months of the season remaining, Slot believes Isak's return could be crucial. "Maybe not immediately, but having him back for the final stretch will be very helpful for us," he said.
