The league action produced 16 goals over the seven games played during the past weekend, with no fixture ending goalless despite four drawn results.

Brandon Petersen's costly Chiefs errors continue

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper and captain Brandon Petersen produced another howler for Polokwane City's equalizer in Saturday's 1-1 draw at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The latest mistake, where he fumbled a corner kick into the net follows on the back of errors against Richards Bay and Golden Arrows in the MTN8 quarter-final defeat.

Petersen will be hoping to reclaim the form that saw him almost being included in the Bafana Bafana 2026 FIFA World Cup squad, with his blunders having cost Amakhosi four points this season.

Bad pitch conditions plague Chippa, Sundowns draw

Chippa United and Mamelodi Sundowns played to a 1-1 at a terrible and muddy Buffalo City Stadium on Saturday, with the African champions sharing the spoils thanks to a late Antonio van Wyk equalizer.

Masandawana head coach Miguel Cardoso bemoaned the condition of the pitch in KuGompo City which affected his sides passing game, forcing them to try unorthodox methods to attack.

Hopefully the PSL will ensure no more matches are played under such conditions for the rest of the season and improve the quality of football that supporters are subjected to.

Ngwenya remains unstoppable for AmaZulu

Zimbabwean striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya has taken the 2026/27 Betway Premiership by storm, leading the goalscoring charts with seven goals in the clubs seven opening fixtures.

His latest winner against the struggling Marumo Gallants proves how important the 23-year-old is to Usuthu's aspirations of returning to continental competitions, with the side currently occupying third spot on the table.

Milford FC prove top-flight credentials with big win

Top-flight newcomers Milford produced an excellent attacking display to hammer KwaZulu-Natal rivals Richards Bay 5-1 at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Sunday to claim their third win of the campaign.

The Stallions have relied mostly on the squad that helped to gain promotion to the Betway Premiership but have surprisingly managed proved to be a tough side to play against, losing only to Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

Siwelele, Gallants fail to win after coaching changes

Early relegation candidates Siwelele FC [15th] and bottom of the table Marumo Gallants both failed to register their first victory of the new season despite making changes to the technical team prior to the fixture.

Gallants caretaker coach Trevor Mathiane saw his side fall 1-0 to AmaZulu in KwaMashu on Saturday, finishing the match with ten men after the red card to captain Edgar Manaka.

Meanwhile, Siwelele interim coach Godfrey Motsetsa led his team to a 1-1 draw against Golden Arrows. Both teams will have to start picking up points if they want to move away from the drop zone.
