Musiala fell to the ground shortly after coming on during Bayern's pre-season friendly against Heidenheim on Tuesday. The 23-year-old Germany international had also collapsed during the previous Saturday's match against RB Leipzig.

Musiala has revealed that he is dealing with a "neurological disorder" that can cause "temporary but treatable seizures".

The latest incident has understandably caused concern at Bayern, with Hoeness admitting he has been deeply affected by what has happened to the midfielder.

"The fact it happened again four days later really shocked me. I was speechless, which rarely happens to me," Hoeness told RTL and Sky.

"I go to bed thinking of him and wake up in the morning thinking of him. We support Jamal unconditionally."

Bayern striker Harry Kane was among the players who rushed to Musiala's aid against Heidenheim and said the squad were determined to support their teammate.

"Of course, when you see a situation like yesterday and the game on Saturday, it's not nice because he's our friend, he's our teammate," Kane said.

"We feel frustrated for him. We know he just wants to be on the pitch and be back to normal as quickly as possible.

"From our point of view, it's just about being with him, talking to him. The club are fully behind him."

Hoeness said Bayern had received written confirmation from specialists that there were no concerns about Musiala continuing to participate in high-performance sport.

"We've been sleeping a little more soundly since receiving that confirmation," he said.

However, Maria Ilyas-Feldmann, deputy chief physician at Germany's Ruppin-Brandenburg University Hospital, said more information was needed before the exact nature of Musiala's condition and its potential impact on his career could be understood.

"Based on the publicly available information, it is impossible to determine the specific cause in Mr Musiala's case," she said.

Hoeness acknowledged that Bayern would now have to adapt to the situation while making Musiala's wellbeing the priority.

"It's a problem first and foremost for the person Jamal, and also for the club in the medium term," he said.

"We're all speechless, we weren't prepared for this."

Musiala joined Bayern from Chelsea's academy as a teenager and has established himself as one of the club's most important players. He extended his contract with the German champions until 2030 last year.

Bayern will begin their competitive season against Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup final on Saturday, although the focus around the club remains firmly on Musiala and his recovery.
