Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana wing-back Khuliso Mudau has expressed his ambitions of making a potential leap to European football.

This after recently being linked with a move to Premier League outfit Burnley.

At 28, Mudau currently holds the title of the reigning PSL Defender of the Season, standing out as one of the most reliable players in the DStv Premiership. His illustrious career with Sundowns, which began with a move from Black Leopards in October 2020, boasts three league titles, MTN8, Nedbank Cup, and African Football League triumphs.

The buzz surrounding Mudau's possible European venture intensified towards the end of 2023 when the Premier League side Burnley emerged as potential suitors. Interestingly, Mudau, who shares the current club with his Bafana Bafana teammate Lyle Foster, has openly acknowledged his eagerness to venture into European football while expressing contentment with his current standing.

"Europe offers a broader audience and opportunities to grow at the highest level," Mudau remarked during a PUMA Q&A. "Ambitious players don't worry about the cons; we are self-driven. But the PSL and African club competitions have shown significant steady growth in the past 2 years, so I'm enjoying the tough competition."

Despite his European dreams, Mudau remains committed to the imminent challenge of representing South Africa in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations at Ivory Coast. Included in Hugo Broos' 23-man squad, Mudau finds himself in the company of nine other Sundowns teammates.

"All I want is to see myself on the same playing field with the best players the continent has to offer," Mudau emphasized. "I've admired them for the longest time and now I get to test myself against them. [I want to play against] Mohammed Salah. He's been the best."

Notably, Mudau, a Puma-sponsored athlete, shed light on his preferred choice of football gear. "PUMA Ultra all the way. The boots are very light, and the traction is great," he disclosed, offering a glimpse into the meticulous considerations that contribute to his on-field success.
