The 28-year-old defender's previous deal was set to expire in 2027, but his new agreement extends his stay by two more years, reflecting his importance to the team since arriving from Benfica in 2020 for 65 million pounds.

In his first season, he was named Premier League Player of the Season and the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year, quickly establishing himself as one of the best defenders in the world. Meanwhile, defender Rico Lewis is reportedly close to agreeing a new five-year deal, while Rodri, Phil Foden, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake all have two years left on their contracts.
