The hosts' aggressive start unsettled Sundowns early on, forcing the visitors to defend deeper than usual.

Despite the early discomfort, Sundowns nearly struck first through a well-worked move on the right. Miguel Cardoso's late substitutions brought renewed energy and helped Sundowns regain control in the closing stages, ensuring they left Algeria with a valuable point from a challenging away assignment.

Reflecting on the performance, Cardoso praised the character shown by his team.

"It was a beautiful match played at a high level," the Sundowns coach said after the match.

"Both teams were strong inside the pitch, and we controlled many moments. MC Alger had a good strategy closing the middle, but we adapted well."
