Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena admits the players deserve credit for his side&rsquo;s winning streak since his recent appointment as head coach of the Brazilians.
Downs crashed to a 3-0 semi-final loss to Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 on 22 October, but since then have scored 15 goals without conceding in four matches. The breakdown is as follows - Two league games (5-0 vs Maritzburg United and 3-0 vs Royal AM) plus the Carling Black Label Cup wins against AmaZulu FC (3-0) and the four goals scored vs Pirates in the final.
Mokwena was appointed sole coach of Sundowns following the MTN8 loss to Bucs. He gave some insight behind his recent success in an interview with the Mamelodi Sundowns Magazine.
"I had a conversation with the team&rsquo;s leadership namely Andile Jali, Mosa Lebusa, Themba Zwane and Denis Onyango to reassure them that it&rsquo;s still business as usual," Mokwena explained.
"My biggest plea to them was that we have to revive the team to its former glory. We must go back to being a team that plays with energy, aggression and the mad-dog mentality of not giving up."
Mokwena added that the improved form had a lot to do with the great work being done by the technical team and the rest of the Downs squad.
"Additionally, I need to give also give credit to the coaches," Mokwena said. "At that point, the boys needed calmness, clarity, and good leadership, which both coach Manqoba and coach Steve were exceptional in providing for the team.
"I am also grateful that we have an honest group of players. We are privileged to have players who maintain professionalism and portray an unwavering commitment to the team."
Mokwena&rsquo;s side will return to action with a league match against Orlando Pirates 31 December.

Livramento, whose scything run led to Isak's goal at Paris St Germain, almost repeated the dose two minutes after the restart when he set up Almiron, but saw the Paraguay international's shot half-blocked to allow Onana to save comfortably.
The keeper was finally beaten seconds later when Guimaraes rolled the ball into Trippier's path and he crossed low to the far post for Gordon to score.
Schar whistled a shot from distance a foot over Onana's crossbar as the home side looked to kill the game off, and Ten Hag responded by replacing Marcus Rashford and Martial with Antony and Rasmus Hojlund.
Antony added vigour to a side in desperate need of inspiration, but to little real effect and Wan-Bissaka survived penalty appeals for handball after blocking Lewis Miley's shot with 12 minutes remaining.
Schar had to throw his body into the path of Sergio Reguilon's well-struck 82nd-minute volley, although Pope's evening ended in agony as he was led from the pitch having suffered an injury as he dived in anticipation behind the defender.
