"Yeah, I think he can cope with this game," he said. "It starts with his personality. He doesn't get distracted easily, and he has dealt with expectations around him for years.

"He has always stayed focused on improving, becoming stronger, and being ready. To score at 16 and now play regularly at 17 shows his mentality."

The Liverpool boss also pointed to Ngumoha's ability on the pitch as a key reason for his confidence.

"He has shown his quality at the highest level. In both the Premier League and Champions League, he can take on defenders one-against-one and cause real problems.

"He has handled everything very well so far, and it helps that he has experienced players around him in the dressing room."

While Ngumoha could play a key role immediately, Slot was more measured when discussing Florian Wirtz, who arrived in a major transfer deal during the summer.

The manager stressed that Wirtz is part of a longer-term rebuild following the end of Jurgen Klopp's era at the club.

"We always knew this would be a transition," Slot explained. "It was the end of a cycle, and we had to sell players to rebuild.

"We brought in young, talented players like Florian to create a new cycle. He wasn't signed for just one game."

Slot added: "He will have special moments here, whether that's now, next season or later. The important thing is building something new, and the sooner that happens, the better."
