Since then, he has mostly played full matches under Arbeloa, but persistent pain forced him to cut short training on Tuesday.

His absence also has implications for the France national team ahead of the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico this year. Madrid plan to rest Mbappe for the next 10 days, which will see him miss the league matches against Getafe on 2 March and the trip to Vigo on 7 March, with the hope that he will be fit for the Champions League last-16.
