Midfielder Fermin Lopez has said key defeats acted as the moment Barcelona reset and found their best form again.

Barcelona struggled for consistency in the early months of the campaign. Defensive issues were clear at times, and the absence of Inigo Martinez was felt as performances dipped. However, recent weeks have seen Barcelona look far more stable and closer to the side that won La Liga last season.

Speaking to Sport, Lopez said defeats against Real Madrid and Chelsea were crucial in changing the team's mindset.

"The defeats in El Clasico and in London were turning points for the team," Lopez said. "Ultimately, these are matches you can lose, and it's true we weren't as good as we usually are, but since then the team has taken a step forward, returning to the form we had last year.

"We're in a very good run of form and we hope it continues until the end."

The Spain international believes inconsistency is a normal part of a long season and pointed to last year as proof that setbacks do not define success.

"You can't be at your best all the time," Lopez said. "Of course we try, and that's what we want, but there's always a game where you're not at your best, or things just don't go your way. Look at last year in November.

"We had a rough patch where we weren't playing well, but we ended up winning the La Liga, the Copa, and the Super Cup."

Lopez is also competing for his place, with Dani Olmo and Raphinha offering strong competition in attacking roles. He feels the experience has helped him grow.

"On a personal level, I think I'm a bit more mature," he said. "Life is moving so fast that I think I've had to mature ahead of schedule."

Looking back on his Barcelona journey, one moment stands above the rest.

"One day I really enjoyed was in the trophy parade," Lopez said. "I went crazy. I couldn't stop singing and jumping. Honestly, it was one of the best moments of 2025, without a doubt."

Barcelona will now aim to maintain their lead and turn this revival into another title-winning season.
