The Hungary international worked under Iraola for two seasons before joining Liverpool last year and is convinced the Spaniard's high-energy style is the perfect fit for the Reds.

"I'm really happy they're here," Kerkez told Liverpool's official website.

"We had really great times together at Bournemouth and when I heard he was coming, I was obviously really happy. They know me, I know them, and I know they can bring a lot to the club.

"Especially Andoni, with the playing style, the energy and how he wants his team to play. I think it suits Liverpool and I think it's going to be really exciting times ahead."

Kerkez said one of Iraola's biggest strengths is his honesty with players, making it clear exactly what he expects.

"He's a nice person and he tells you straightforward what he wants from you," Kerkez said.

"Then it's up to you to do it. If you don't do it, you're not playing, it's as simple as that."

The 22-year-old also praised Iraola's passion from the touchline.

"He's maybe not much of a talker, but he shows his emotions all the time. You can see on the sideline how energetic he is," he said.

"I think he's the perfect boss for Liverpool. We just have to have a good pre-season, listen to what he wants from us and I think the team will be in good shape."

Kerkez enjoyed an outstanding final season under Iraola at Bournemouth, earning a place in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year and a nomination for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.

"He helped me improve a lot," Kerkez said.

"In my first year at Bournemouth we did a lot of video analysis and the whole coaching staff helped me. Then in my second year I adapted much better.

"He likes to play direct, high and on the front foot. That's perfect for me."

After returning for pre-season training at the AXA Training Centre, Kerkez admitted he was eager to get back to work.

"I'm really happy to be back. I missed training, I missed the ball and I wanted to be back in Liverpool," he said.

Liverpool endured a disappointing campaign last season, and Kerkez admitted the squad knows it must improve.

"It was tough," he said.

"We had ups and downs, but this season we have to show that we're more ready.

"At Liverpool you have to compete for trophies and win things. Last season was unacceptable. We have to make the club proud, make the fans proud and hopefully we can do that this year."

While Kerkez feels he has grown during his first year at Anfield, his focus remains firmly on helping the team succeed.

"I'm more experienced now and my first year at Liverpool helped me understand the club and the fans," he said.

"I just want to perform at my best to help the team win trophies. If everyone gives 100 per cent and fights for the badge, then the team will be in a good place."
