Local football legend Thabo Mngomeni picks the 11 best players he played with during his career.

The 52-year-old midfielder played for Cape Town Spurs, Manning Rangers, Bush Bucks, Orlando Pirates and Hellenic during a career from 1990 until he stopped playing in 2003.

The midfielder also was capped by Bafana Bafana and a squad member for the 2002 World Cup.

In an interview with KickOff.com, Mngomeni talks about his feelings on football nowadays and picks the best 11 players he faced and played with during his career.

"Today's players lack that love for playing the game," Mngomeni tells Kickoff.com.

"All the players I named in my Dream Team, you could identify that they loved what they did. Most of the players I selected basically all represented South African football. That football style that I feel has been lost.

"There's this thing that where they lack urgency, but maybe that is our tactical plan where our opponent probably falls asleep. Once he falls asleep, we deal with him.

"But that is allowed only if it's done by overseas players and this is killing our football."

Goalkeeper - Innocent Mayoyo : I don't think there's a player who didn't want to play with Mayoyo.

Right-back - Kamaal Sait: For his workrate and understanding of the game.

Centre-back - John Mbidzo: One of the best players I've played with.

Centre-back - Gerald Raphahlela: A team player who doesn't like losing. He's everything you need in a defender.

Left-back - Mongezi Malashe: Like Sait gives you extra numbers when attacking.

Right-wing - Siyabonga Nomvethe: If the situation demands they take a player on, will do so. How he played motivated other players.

Centre-mid - Thabo Mngomeni: It depends on what type of players I'm playing with, that will drive me on what to do on the pitch.

Centre-mid - Vincent Sokhela: I can't leave out Sokhela. One of the most underrated players. So skilful and can take shots from anywhere.

Left-wing - Sibusiso Zuma: The moment you give him the ball out wide, we all know the ball will end up inside the box.

Striker - Brendan Augustine: One of the most underrated players. I've never seen such a short player out-jump so many opponents

Striker - Dennis Lota: I don't recall seeing a striker calmer than Dennis in the last-third. Would take players on and go to right areas on time.
