From established stars to exciting young attackers, the Spanish giants have invested heavily in adding new dimensions to their teams.

Barcelona have focused on injecting greater speed and intensity into their attack. Anthony Gordon has arrived from Newcastle United for 70 million euros, bringing relentless pressing and a direct approach to the left wing. His pace should provide Hansi Flick's side with a potent weapon in transition, particularly when opponents commit to a high defensive line.

Karim Adeyemi represents another significant addition, joining from Borussia Dortmund for 22 million euros plus as much as 7 million in bonuses. The Germany international's acceleration and ability to operate in several attacking roles could allow Barcelona to vary their approach.

His arrival also marks a decision to move away from relying on Marcus Rashford, who returned to Manchester United after his loan spell ended.

Real Madrid, aiming to close the gap to their arch-rivals who finished eight points clear at the top of the standings last season, have assembled an imposing collection of recruits.

Before looking at the additions on the pitch, the most significant change could be the return of enigmatic football manager Jose Mourinho, who will be determined to add another piece of silverware to his impressive collection as he takes over as Los Blancos boss.

The headline acquisition is 19-year-old Yan Diomande, signed from RB Leipzig for 125 million euros, with the package potentially reaching 140 million.

After producing 13 goals and 10 assists in all competitions, the Ivorian arrives as one of Europe's most exciting young talents and could add unpredictability alongside Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe.

Madrid have also strengthened their defence with Marc Cucurella, who joined Chelsea for 55 million euros, and Ibrahima Konate, who arrived from Liverpool without a transfer fee. Konate's pace and physical presence should be particularly valuable when Madrid push their defensive line high.

Elsewhere, Denzel Dumfries has moved from Inter Milan for 20 million, offering power and versatility on the right.

Bernardo Silva is perhaps the most eye-catching bargain, with the Manchester City midfielder arriving on a free transfer. His technical quality, intelligence and positional flexibility could give Mourinho another elite option for controlling matches.
