There are a lot of factors that go into what a club decides it is willing to spend on a footballer and not all of them correlate across teams and leagues. What one team might be willing to pay could seem completely exorbitant to another.

However, CIES has tried to bring everything together to create one number and find out who is the most valuable player in the world.

A quite staggering 51 of the top 100 most valuable soccer players in the world are now worth more than $100million. Due to the size and volume of transfers in the Premier League, it comes as little surprise that more than half of those are in the Premier League.

Arsenal have seven players worth more than $100million all on their own. Chelsea might be devastated to find out that, despite their huge spending of late, only two of their players are valued at over $100million.

Manchester City and Real Madrid each have six players valued over $100million and the two clubs also dominate the top 10 with three players each.

However, there are some surprises too. Kylian Mpabbe's contract is set to expire in less than six months' time so he has dropped down to 27th on the list, apparently valued at 'just' $116million.

The most valuable player in the world is England and Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham who, thanks to some incredible performances for Los Blancos, has doubled the $113million paid for him and is now worth in the region of $288million, according to CIES.
