The club released a medical update confirming both the injury and the impending procedure, with reports suggesting the setback could force Arsenal into the loan market before the transfer window closes at 7pm on Monday. A club statement read: "Mikel will have surgery in the coming days and will then begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme.
