TS Galaxy rant rampant at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday as they scored four goals past a shellshocked Richards Bay.

Prince Mahlangu opened the scoring on 24 minutes ahead of a Orebotse Mongae strike with 26 minutes on the clock.

Junior Traore added a third nine minutes into the second half and Mongae completed the 4-0 rout with his second goal two minutes into injury time.

The result saw the Rockets move onto 30 points from 23 games and the Natal Rich Boys in sixth with 31 points.

It took until the 15th minute for the first real chance of the tie as Luvuyo Memela tried his luck from the edge of the area from a good lay off from Yamela Mbuthuma but his shot was just too high.

Mbuthuma was then off target himself moments later before Somila Ntsundwana forced a strong save from Galaxy keeper Vasilije Kolak.

It had been all Richards Bay until this point but Galaxy were ahead against the run of play when Mahlangu slotted home into the bottom right corner of Neil Boshoff's goal.

Mongae quickly made it two for the home team when he picked up a Mahlangu pass to fire past a stranded Boshoff.

Memela was close to pulling a goal back with a 35th minute equaliser but he shaved the right-hand upright as Bernard Parker saw his goal-bound shot saved.

Galaxy ended the half the stronger of the two sides and were quickly again looking for more goals at the start of the second period of play.

Kamogelo Sebelebele was just off target on 50 minutes and again four minutes later before Traore made no mistake with fierce shot following a neat pass from Sebelebele.

Mthethwa and Siyanda Msani should have done better with their efforts when through on goal with the second half winding down while Ovella Ochieng had a good attempt saved as Richard Bay threw everything forward in the final few minutes.

But it was Galaxy who had the final say as Mongae ran onto a Nkosikhona Radebe through ball before leaving Boshoff on his backside with a composed finish, low and hard.

Richards Bay have now lost their last five DStv Premiership encounters as Galaxy bounced back from a 6-3 loss in the Nedbank Cup to produce arguably their best performance of the season.
