Saturday saw no less than five DSTV Premiership matches completed across the country as the season nears its exciting conclusion.

Chippa United 2-2 Baroka

Chippa United and Baroka played out to a frantic 2-2 draw at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium that saw all four goals scored in the final 25 minutes of the match.

The goal-fest started in the 67th minute when Riaan Hanamub fired the ball into the back of the net from a tight angle to put the Chilli Boys ahead.

But Baroka would equalise less than 10 minutes later when substitute Dan Ndlhovu produced a superb solo effort to beat two defenders and stroke the ball through the legs of LLoyd Kazapua.

The visitors then completed the turnaround by taking the lead when Decide Chauke was put clean through on goal and beat the rushing Kazapua with a composed finish.

Baroka keeper Jackson Mabokgwane then pulled off one of the saves of the season to seemingly keep his side on course for victory.

But with time running out and a valuable three points in sight for the visiting Limpopo outfit, Thokozani Sekotlong broke their hearts by snatching a 91st minute equaliser, as Baroka were forced to settle for only a point that still leaves them two points behind their nearest rivals at the bottom of the table.

Marumo Gallants 0-0 Golden Arrows

Marumo Gallants and Golden Arrows played out to a 0-0 draw that will probably have the hosts feeling better about the result than the visitors.

Arrows would have been targeting this fixture as a winnable one in their quest for a top-eight finish, coming up against a side who are winless in their last six league matches, but they had to settle for a point that keeps them in ninth place.

Marumo, meanwhile, showed why they have made it all the way to this season's Nedbank Cup final by not giving their opponents any easy opportunities.

Both sides had their chances to claim all three points but in the end, a draw was probably a fair result.

AmaZulu 0-0 Sekhukhune United

AmaZulu strengthened their bid for a top-eight finish with a 0-0 draw against Sekhukhune United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

While a victory would no doubt have been even better for Usuthu, the point earned against Sekhukhune sees them move to 40 points, level with sixth-placed Orlando Pirates (but behind on goal difference) and three points clear of Supersport United in eighth.

The hosts could have been ahead as early as the fifth minute but for a spectacular save from Toaster Nsabata after Tapelo Xoki's goalbound header, and in truth that would be their best chance of the match as both teams struggled to break down their opponents' defences, seemingly content to settle for a share of the spoils.

Stellenbosch 1-1 Maritzburg United

Maritzburg United secured another valuable point in their quest for survival in the premiership as they drew 1-1 with high-flying Stellenbosch at the Danie Craven Stadium.

A draw away from home in the Western Cape is a solid result for the Team of Choice, although they might have been hoping for more after taking the lead from the penalty spot shortly after the hour mark.

But the home side managed to find an equaliser just six minutes later, Judas Moseamedi putting the spectacular finishing touch on a well-worked team move to salvage a draw for his side, who would nonetheless have been hoping for more as they target a top-three finish that now looks much harder to achieve.

Cape Town City 2-0 TS Galaxy

In the final match of the day, Cape Town City moved up to second on the table with an important 2-0 win over TS Galaxy at the Cape Town Stadium.

The win moves the Citizens one step closer to securing a top-three spot and African football next season, although Royal AM are only three points behind with a game in hand, and could still pip them to the post and secure a place in the CAF Champions League.

Darwin Gonzalez handed City the lead midway through the first half when he latched onto a cross from Thamsanqa Mkhize and fired a beautiful volley into the back of the net.

That was how the scoreline stayed until seven minutes from time when City were awarded a penalty after Pogiso Sanoka brought down Craig Martin in the box. Up stepped Mduduzi Mdantsane to coolly slot it home to make sure of all three points for his side.
