There was less encouraging news regarding Joe Gomez, who suffered a hip injury in last week's defeat at Bournemouth. Slot stated: "Joe will not be available, but that does not have to take much longer."

Liverpool's injury woes extend to Jeremie Frimpong, who was replaced just three minutes into the Qarabag match. Slot said: "He will not be in the squad tomorrow. He is out for a few weeks, but it's not as bad as we thought. So something positive from something not so positive."

Long-term absentees Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni, and Alexander Isak remain sidelined. On Isak, Slot remarked: "He is not even on the pitch. He is just out of his walker.
