The Soweto giants have endured a difficult period in recent weeks, suffering four consecutive defeats across all competitions. The poor form has sparked calls from sections of the fanbase for co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef to be relieved of their duties.

Chiefs' hopes of ending the season with silverware are fading after early exits from the Nedbank Cup and the CAF Confederation Cup. Their inconsistent league campaign has also allowed rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates to pull ahead in what is shaping up to be a two-horse race for the Premier Soccer League (PSL) title.

In their last six matches in all competitions, AmaKhosi have suffered five defeats and recorded just one victory. That solitary win came against Egyptian side Al Masry SC in continental action after they had already been knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by Stellenbosch FC.

Speaking to the club's radio platform, Motaung Jr. admitted that results have not gone according to plan but insisted the club is working tirelessly behind the scenes to improve the situation.

"The stance is that the coaches understand the responsibility that faces them. They know the results must come and they must come quickly. As a club, we are constantly evaluating ourselves and our processes, and there is a lot of work happening behind the scenes," he said.

"We know we want to be in the CAF Champions League next year. We have certain targets we set for ourselves, and we are evaluating where we are now and what needs to be done to get there."

Chiefs currently sit sixth in the league standings with 30 points, 14 behind Pirates and Sundowns, who have played a game more. The situation has also placed AmaKhosi at risk of missing out on the MTN8 for a third consecutive season.

Motaung Jr. admitted he understands the anger from supporters but stressed that everyone at the club knows results must improve quickly.
